A sarcoma is a rare cancer of the connective tissue. The connective tissue includes soft tissue (e.g., muscle, fat, nerve, blood vessels, cartilage) and bone. Connective tissue is present throughout the body, so sarcoma can occur in any location, and over 50 subtypes of the disease have been identified. Sarcoma does not discriminate as it strikes both adults and children. About 8% of all cancers diagnosed per year are sarcomas. 22% of childhood cancers diagnosed per year are sarcomas.
A word from Philip Leider
President of Sarcoma Alliance "Courage and generosity. People with Sarcoma and their families, caregivers, and friends inspire us. When we read the story of Laetitia, we remember that the struggle continues. Laetitia teaches us to be courageous and generous in our daily lives. I hope you will join us in honoring the courage of people with Sarcoma everywhere by contributing generously to the Sarcoma Alliance, whether in the form of monetary donations through this web site or at the exhibition, volunteer work, or just sharing your stories with others. Please help us, in whatever way you can, to carry on the legacy of courage and generosity that Laetitia and countless others have left to those touched by Sarcoma. The Sarcoma Alliance is that legacy, We welcome you."
